Frequently asked questions
- Is my file uploaded anywhere?
- No. The file is read and rendered by your browser. The text of your document is never sent to a server, and the page does not store it.
- What can this Markdown viewer render?
- GitHub Flavored Markdown (tables, task lists, strikethrough, autolinks), Mermaid diagrams in ```mermaid code blocks, LaTeX math written between dollar signs, and syntax-highlighted code blocks.
- How do I save a rendered .md file as a PDF?
- Use the Print / Save as PDF button, then choose “Save as PDF” as the destination in your browser’s print dialog. The print view contains only the rendered document, on white paper.
- Can I open MDX files?
- You can open them, but they are shown as plain Markdown. JSX components inside an .mdx file are not run.
- What is the difference between this and the OpenMark app?
- This page is a quick viewer. OpenMark is a native Mac app that opens .md files with a double-click, previews them in Finder with Quick Look, lets you edit the source, and works offline; an iPhone and iPad reader is included. It is $9.99 once.
